A   New Treatment Option for Mild to Moderate Body Contouring and Cellulite Reduction

What is Mesotherapy?
New to North America, Mesotherapy is a medical technique that was first performed in France by Dr. M. Pistor over 50 years ago.  Since then it has been practiced in South America and parts of Europe for different purposes, ranging from chronic pain, infectious diseases, vascular diseases and the improvement of circulation, sports injuries, weight loss, cellulite, localized obesity, skin rejuvenation and hair loss.  In the cosmetic arena, Mesotherapy is used for body contouring, (hips, buttocks, inner thighs, love handles, abdomen and arms) reduction of fat pads (upper and lower eye lids) and smoothing of cellulite.  Mesotherapy treatments stimulate the mesoderm, or middle layer of the skin, which in turn helps to break down  the cellulite and or dissolve fat.

How Can Mesotherapy treat so many different conditions?
Mesotherapy is based on the notion pondered by Dr. Pistor who wanted to deliver small amounts of medication to a localized area without it passing through the whole body first.  He found that not only did this bring quick results it also reduced complications. Different medications are used for different conditions, but they are all administered in a similar manner.  Mesotherapy is the technique by which medications are introduced into tissue via microinjections in the mesodermic layer of the skin.   The skin, therefore, instead of the stomach or circulatory system serves as the vehicle by which the body receives its treatment.

  How is Mesotherapy Performed?
Treatment may be carried out immediately after an initial consultation at which point you will be informed as to how many treatments you will require. Micro-injections are given weekly or once every 2 weeks over a period of time.  If treated weekly some individuals may require a course of only 5 weeks, although a full treatment course takes 10 weeks or more.  The treatment is long lasting and the results measurable.  Superb results are achieved and those being treated look and feel better both during and after treatment.  Overall, with a moderate amount of lifestyle change, Mesotherapy can provide measurable improvements. The treatment itself is simple.  The skin is first cleansed; a topical gel is applied to help numb the skin.  Then using a tiny needle attached to a syringe, medications are placed into the area just below the skin.  The goal of this procedure is to break down the cellulite and/or fat, and to improve circulation, lymphatic and venous drainage over the problem area. Often patients describe the injections from “nothing at all” to “a mild sting”.  Each treatment takes about 20 minutes and is not painful.  At the end of the procedure the area is dried and the patient may return to usual daily activity. Some patients may have varying amounts of redness, bruising and swelling which usually disappears within a few days.  This can be diminished by avoiding aspirin products, vitamin E and alcohol prior to treatments.

What is the difference between Fat and Cellulite?
Cellulite results from a combination of fatty tissue matted down by connective tissue, and fluid retention.  Typically (although not exclusively) a female problem, it can affect women of all ages irrespective of their weight.  In women, fat cells on the lower part of the body store fat six times more readily than those on the upper body.  They also release them six times less readily. This makes weight loss from the lower body almost impossible without the upper body suffering unnecessarily.  According to recent research, 95 percent of women suffer from cellulite.  Not that they’re the only ones.  Less common perhaps, but men suffer from it too.

What is the difference between Mesotherapy and Liposuction?
Firstly Liposuction tends to be much more invasive as well as more costly.  There is significant post-operative pain that can come with liposuction, whereas the pain with mesotherapy is mild and usually requires either nothing or a mild painkiller for no more than 24 hours.  Mesotherapy focuses on mobilizing fat from the fat cells, rather than removal of the fat cells, as is done in liposuction.  If a client does not stick to a healthy lifestyle involving diet and exercise, than when they do regain fat, it will occur in places where they tended not to store fat before the operation. For example, a patient that had liposuction on the hips and buttocks may regain the weight on the neck and shoulders.  In Mesotherapy, if a patient does not adhere to a healthy lifestyle of proper eating and exercise, they will regain fat in the same location where Mesotherapy had been preformed. Liposuction is usually performed by a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist, whereas Mesotherapy can be performed by physicians or their designates with a variety of clinical backgrounds.  Liposuction is done in one setting, whereas mesotherapy is typically performed over a series of sessions, usually averaging about 10, depending on the site being worked upon.

Other applications of Mesotherapy .
Mesotherapy technique is again employed to stimulate hair growth in pateints with aloepecia or hair loss .It uses different mix of nutrients to enhance hair growth.

What is Mesoglow?

Mesoglow (for that special day in your life) is a form of mesotherapy where a different mix of nutrients and vitamins is used to stimulate the face and give it a radiant look.
